Save our Bees

Botanical and Natural History artist Tereska Shepherd MA has become fascinated by bees. These wonderful creatures have caught her imagination and combining her interests in art, ecology and conservation she has created a series of large scale watercolour paintings depicting many of Britain’s bee species. Through her artwork, prints, greetings cards and textiles Tereska aims to raise awareness about the plight of the bees and draw people’s attention to these often overlooked yet beautiful creatures.

Despite their import role as pollinators, bee population numbers are rapidly declining in Britain and globally, two British Bumblebees have already become extinct and many are seriously threatened. Bee pollination is vital for maintaining a diversity of wild flowers, fruit and vegetable crops, helping to maintain affordable food.

Supporting the Bumblebee Conservation Trust (www.bumblebeeconservation.org)

The Bumblebee conservation trust aims to halt and reverse declines in the UK’s bumblebees whilst raising awareness and increasing understanding about bumblebees and the social, economic, environmental and cultural benefits which they and other pollinators provide. Their work not only benefits bees but all aspects of British wildlife including butterflies and wild flowers.
